concept model

2020

Our concept model attempts to express the spirit of Maison Louis Carre. The objective was to stay true to Alvar Aalto’s initial concept sketches of the building - explorative compositions of simple lines demonstrating curves, perspectives, and elevations.

We built two forms, using a square plan as a boundary for our model. Four objects were cast from these forms. The final model is an assembly from one object from each form. Wood and plaster were used to express the warmth of the building, while offering opportunities to express hard and soft lines.

Group project with Andy Grellmann.
